Mulled Wine
INGREDIENTS
- 3 fresh bay leaves
- 1 orange
- 1 lemon
- 100g caster sugar
- 1 vanilla pod
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 star anise
- 6 cloves
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 bottle of Nonna Gisella Sangiovese
- extra orange & star anise for garnish
METHOD
Step 1
Place sugar, vanilla, bay leaves, large pieces of citrus rind, citrus juice and all spices excluding star anise into a large pot. Add enough wine to cover the sugar and turn onto medium heat. Stir until sugar dissolves.
Step 2
Bring to the boil, and boil for 5-7 minutes until a thick syrup remains. Turn onto low heat and add remaining Nonna Gisella plus star anise.
Step 3
Gently warm for around 5 minutes. Strain into glasses and garnish with fresh orange slice, cinnamon sticks and star anise if desired.
