The King Valley wine region is located in Victorias north east – about three hours north of Melbourne and seven hours south of Sydney. One of the most picturesque and unspoilt valley’s in Australia, the region is home to beautiful sites such as Paradise Falls, Powers Lookout, Mount Cobla and Lake William Hovell as well as fantastic places to eat and drink including the renowned Mountainview Hotel, Milawa Cheese Factory and the King River Cafe.
The region is not without its association with Australia’s rogue history with both Harry Power and Ned Kelly visiting family members and roaming the hills to avoid the police. Visitors to the region are always commenting on how lucky we are to live in such a picturesque and unspoilt valley with an array of produce and wine to feast on.
The King Valley wine region is cool climate and produces in excess of eighteen thousand tonnes of fruit annually. The region is unique as it is able to produce excellent fruit quality consistently, as well as a wide array of fruit types from traditional international varieties to the interesting Italian varieties.
