The Mountain View Hotel in Whitfield is now open again and serving great meals and local wines...

Our youngest son Carlo and his partner Sally have taken over the management of the Mountain View Hotel in Whitfield. We closed the pub for five months minor renovations to the bar, dining lounge, motel units and kitchen. But the beer taps are now flowing again.

We are excited to be once again involved with the running of our hotel. Katrina and I managed it in the early 1970's for three years for Mario Bandiera, an Italian businessman based in Melbourne. We eventually purchased the freehold from Mario in 1994. Between 1996 and 2004 our eldest daughter Natalie and nephew Adam Pizzini managed the business. In 2004 we sold the Hotel's lease.

But now Carlo and Sally bring renewed vigour and ideas to the pub. It is so nice to see fresh, young faces behind the bar serving local beer, wines and a good coffee!

They have a new head chef. Bryan Alley's kitchen will be serving classic bar meals using quality produce and for the dining room, he has an exciting modern Australian menu. Sal and Carlo have plans for monthly long lunches, seasonal produce dinners and wine dinners of course.

Katrina and I wish them every success with their new venture, if for nothing else, so that we have another venue choice for a dinner out in the King Valley that's not too far from home!
